Professor Andre Nicolaï, dead in 2011, teached economics in the universities of Lille and Paris- Nanterre. He published a brilliant book in 1960 , “ Economic Behaviour and Social Structures”, whose last reedition was made in 1999. He published also papers in the french academic review, “ Revue Economique” on inflation, saving and economic rationality. He was also concerned by development economics and epistemological considerations.
Andre Nicolaï was mainly concerned by rebuilding economic anthropology after the crash of this approach by Knight ferocious critics in the JPE during 1941. Economic anthropology was seen as a social science trying to analyse all aspects of society. André Nicolaï has influenced many people to discover the world complexity and recommanded a lot of books out of economic borders.
This session aims to build a book on Nicolai’s approach with people who appreciate his courses and publications. The papers will be discussed during two days ( the May 22 and 23,2014) managed by Le Havre University (High Normandy Doctoral College of Economics).
